Introducing The Taiwan Excellence Project

In our efforts to be relatively close with the other countries around the country, there is no denying that varied country partnerships emerge through the years. And what better way to celebrate such partnership than having an excellence award. And Taiwan just did that. Introducing the Taiwan Excellence Project.

Perhaps you might wonder, what is this project all about? Let me let you in some great details.

The Campaign

This project is spearheaded by the Taiwan government to the Philippines. Through this campaign, the said country can promote top quality brands and products to us. This is organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), R.O.C. Taiwan, and implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

The History

The campaign started as part of MOEA’s 5 year plan in the 1980s in order to raise Taiwan’s international competitiveness by supporting their brands. Under the Image Enhancement Plan, this campaign was then established way back in 1992. The phrase “Taiwan Excellence” was awarded to products based on their R&D, design, quality, and marketing efforts. Should the brand or product be selected, it will be bearing the Taiwan Excellence Seal both locally and internationally.

The Awarding

Taiwan based brands and companies can be part of the campaign. There are many product categories to begin with. This covers consumer and business IT, fashion, arts and culture, sports, education, transportation, and others. As previously stated R&D, design, quality, and marketing holds much bearing in the awarding process. This will then be assess by an international panel of judges. Each product will be scored evenly in four categories. After evaluation, they will then be allowed to carry the Taiwan Excellence Seal. But it won’t stop right there. Judges will also select the Silver and Gold Award Recognition. Ten will be given the Gold Award and the remaining 20 will have the Silver Award.

What is even better about this campaign is that this is the first time to be launched in the country. This will give Filipinos increase awareness with regards to Taiwanese products of good quality. Then you might wonder, what are these products in the first place? Little did you know, we have been using one and we even know many of it! A few examples are Acer, Asus, HTC, Tatung and BenQ.

With the aid of this campaign, this will bring 56 top quality brands to our market. Furthermore, these brands will bring in 175 products in total which fall under varied industries like ICT, home and living, sports and leisure. Since these all came from reputable brands and names, there is that guarantee that you will Filipinos will be enjoying products that are of excellent quality pushing towards “Excellence Lifestyle”.

As consumers, this would be of great help towards our product picking in the market. There is no denying that competition is prevalent especially to varied products. However, seeing that brand of excellence can simply give us an assurance that the brand and the company go a rigorous selection process. Having that embedded in them is surely not a walk in the park. And that would be something we can trust. We not only have the best product with us, but also the best that the country Taiwan can provide us.
