Popular Reasons Why You Are Not Investing Yet: Are These Your Reasons Too?
There’s only a few percentage of the country’s population that are into investing. Many, if not majority don’t even know how to maximize the potential of their money. The investments that they know are opening a savings account or a time deposit account. Then find out after x number of years that their money didn’t even move an inch while inflation is at the background working its way to your money and laughing it all out.
That is indeed one scary scenario that I hope you won’t experience. When we talk about investing, this does not always refer to stock market trading. There are still many investment avenues that you can opt to that are safe and are working for your advantage. Perhaps the real reason why you are not investing at this point in time in your life would be because of the following. As you read, be honest if these are indeed the ones stopping you from making the right decision to invest.
Reason 1: I have nothing, nothing, nothing. (sing it like Whitney)
I don’t have the money. So you live every waking moment of your life without money. I really wonder how you can survive. Even beggars have some money. No, you don’t get it, I have money but there’s nothing left. So where is it going then? I have expenses you know? The question is where? Before I burst a monologue here let me break it down for you. You see you don’t need much when you invest. There are cheap options in the market and in the banks. You just only have to start saving up. Remember, deduct savings from your salary and not expenses from your salary. You just need to know how to save first before you invest so you will have the money.
Reason 2: I’m scared, it is a scary world out there.
There, there. Let me comfort you with a warm blanket and a hot tea. Feeling better? I hope so. Investing is indeed a scary world. However, you don’t have to do everything. There are already avenues that will take out that fear from you. You can start with mutual funds where a fund manager would be the one trading your money. Even more, they can also be able to help you lessen the market risk. Simply opt in an investment category that would suit best to your personality. If you are scared, you can just opt for the one with conservative returns. However, if you want to go all in, equities and trading in the stock market would be ideal.
Reason 3: I’m not smart for this.
As a Facebook post said, di ginagamit ang utak, benta mo na. Ok this should not be the case. There’s no qualification needed in order to start investing. It is not even picky as to who should invest. True enough you really need to have investing knowledge before you jump in. You must learn to understand the market mechanics in the first place. However, if you really want to start investing, there are already many people who can help you out. For one, you can have your bank tellers discuss you with regards to their investment schemes. Plus, Google is your friend. You just really need to invest some time to read and study on it.
Reason 4: I’m just so busy, I don’t have the time.
How many hours do you have? How many hours we all have? How about the hours of your investor friends? I am certain we all have 24 hours in a day right? But how come others have the time to invest? Are you saying you can’t? Time management my friend, time management. If you really don’t have the time in the first place, let the fund managers do the work for you. Invest in mutual funds or UITF. Simply deposit your money and proceed with your usual tasks. If you are into trading, you can also do so even outside trading hours.
Reason 5: I’ll do it later, don’t rush me.
The best time to invest is yesterday, yet you only have today. So why wait when you can do it now. But wait there’s more. The market is growing and increasing. When you invest soon, the prices would rise and would be totally different from today. Should you wait till then? In investing, your best ally is time. Hence, maximize its potential. Government project do not delay. I mean Personal project, do not delay.
Investing is indeed a whole new world. A dazzling place I never knew. But when I'm way up here, it's crystal clear. Let’s go back to where my post really is. However, there are already a lot of helpers and aiders that will surely extend their helping hand to get you started.
