Never Again: A Debtor’s Poem

Never again shall I be swayed to swipe
For that new iPhone or Samsung phone
Or for dresses that are all but hype
For if I do use my credit card
I use it as scarce as I can
Because if I don’t, paying my debt will be hard.

Never again shall I be tempted by these installment plans
3 months, 6 months, 36 months seem too long
By then I could’ve saved more, even buy myself a nice pair of pants
0% interest shall never persuade me
For if it shall, my money won’t last for long.

Never again shall I activate another card
I fear I will bury myself in a longer debt if I do
But even if opportunity presents, I must think long and hard
As to what a credit card can do.

But I promise myself this
When I use my credit card for phones and clothes
To Pay my debt, I shall promise
In the words of the Tyrion and his family impose
A Lannister always pays his debts.
