Travel Frugally

My apologies for the lack of new posts the past few days. I have been overwhelmed with my little trip to Baguio and in Manila. There were so many things to do and not a lot of Internet connection in the process. But I have with me tons of new things to share and a lot of financial lessons. So do check out my space for those posts.

So a few days ago, I had an opportunity to go to Baguio. I attended a national conference for IT educators and I totally agree that the place is just so lovely. Since summer is fast approaching and I bet many are already keen with their summer plans and the like, it would also be best to know how you can travel frugally.

Traveling should be one thing you must spend on. However, you need not break your bank or your savings in order to do such.  There’s no need to spend lavishly just because you are on a trip. You can still opt to travel even if you are tight on budget. Even more, you can still experience the best things the new place can provide with these few simple tips.

Travel with Friends

Nothing beats having more people to join you in your trip. You will have your crazy friends to enjoy the travel plus you can still be able to travel frugally. You see most trips and even packages tend to have lower prices if there would be many people hopping in. Hence, if you’ve got travel buddies or friends who also want to travel, it would be best to let them join in. With that, you can divide the expenses such as the accommodation, the trips, fare and just about anything! Simply imagine how much you can be able to save up in the process if you will travel alone versus traveling with friends. You get to enjoy their company plus you also get to save!

Plan out and research

There are currently a wide array of travel deals and packages that you can seize. For one, there are cheap air and even ship deals. The Internet can be your good source of this. For instance, if you are planning to travel by air, make sure you book the tickets in advance. You may even opt for cheap airfare deals that are published seasonally.

Stay With Friends

If you happen to have a friend who is residing there, might as well stay with them. This could greatly help you save in terms of accommodation. Instead of staying in a hotel and the like, you can opt to ask your friends if they can spare you a space for a number of days. Find out if you can be able to stay with them. To compensate for such, make sure you also get to treat them say a meal or two. Make sure to play the good guest like cleaning your area, fixing your bed and helping them with chores. If you can’t stay in a friend, you can opt to travel by night so you can be able to combine travel and accommodation costs.

Know the Place and Commute

Most of the time, we tend to go overboard with our expenses most especially with regards to transportation during trips or vacations. That is why, it is important to spend a few hours in the new place in order to get around the city without the need to hire a taxi and the like. Don’t be afraid to ask locals as to how to go here and that. Experience the culture by traveling as a local. In this case, you also get to see other places while paying cheap.

Traveling need not be expensive. As a matter of fact, there are many ways to be frugal while you’re at it. You only need to be resourceful with regards to your stay, vacation plans and other details that would come along the way.
